Singapore, 22 January 2022 — Over 600 participants in the 12th NUS BSA Charity Run (BCR) have raised more than S$600,000 for a notable cause.
The annual flagship event of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School is organised by the NUS Business School Alumni Association (NUSBSA) and supported by BIZAlum, the School’s alumni office.
The record sum will go towards student bursaries, including the NUSBSA Bursary Fund. TOUCH Community Services (Elder Care), the partner beneficiary for BCR2022, will receive matching grants from Tote Board under its Enhanced Fundraising Programme.
In the virtual closing ceremony today, Mr Eric Chua, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development, said, “I also wish to take this chance to encourage both individuals and corporates to give and care for others in our daily lives. While COVID has thrown us a curve ball, it has also made humanity shine brighter than before.”
The virtual run took place from 5 to 16 January. BCR participants could choose where and when to run, so long as they could show proof of their completion of 12 km in the individual run or 112 km in the team run.
NUS President Professor Tan Eng Chye, who kickstarted the virtual run on 5 January, said, “Over the past two years, we have collectively come to realise the critical importance of strong community bonds. I am therefore greatly pleased and very proud of how the NUS community has continued to rally together in support of those in need.”
