During the semester’s recess week, 20 NUS MBA students flew to London for the Global Immersion Programme (GIP) 2019. These student-led overseas study trips are organised every semester to provide a unique platform for students to garner international experience and learn best practices in the corporate, entrepreneurial and government spheres of the host country. It is also an opportunity to broaden their professional networks and gain frontline insights from top-level business leaders and government representatives.
NUS MBA Global Immersion Programme 2019 to London
As part of the programme, students had a packed schedule of corporate visits with Google, London First, Twitter UK, Amazon London, Bloomberg, Deliveroo, and GlaxoSmithKline. At their visit to Santander Bank, they were also engaged in a transformative dialogue with its team about Brexit and innovative necessity.
During the visit to Amazon London, they learned how the e-commerce giant creates business value beyond just capturing online market share.
Besides corporate visits, students attended two intensive classes at the London School of Economics – Prof Saul Estrin’s “Globalisation and Changing World Order”, and Prof Om Narasimhan’s “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in an Era of Globalisation.”
To round up the trip, the students caught up with NUS MBA alumni based in London. As part of the networking dinner, NUS Law and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy alumna Ms Foo Chi Hsia (Singapore High Commissioner to the United Kingdom) joined in the festive event.
