NUS Business School teams clinch first and second spot at Oliver Wyman Case Competition

BBA teams Team Owl Consulting and Team Primus were awarded champions and runners-up respectively at the Oliver Wyman Case Challenge.

Held in Singapore, the case competition was organised by SMU and had 129 participating teams from local universities. The business case is a med-tech spinoff from a healthcare conglomerate that intends to float on the stock exchange in four years. Participants were challenged to analyse the international business segments and to identify priority markets and to optimise the product portfolio.

Team Owl Consulting (Chin Zhi Ren, Li Youjia, Janel Ong and Ryan Cheng) and Team Primus (Chun Soon Kon, Hew Qianyu, Isabelle Goh, and Devin Nathanael) impressed the judges with their sound analysis, practical recommendations and eloquent presentation style.

Both team leaders said they took a systematic approach to the case — analysing the markets and product mix; developing country-specific strategy playbooks; and exploring growth options such as entering the Middle East market.
