NUS Biz and Tycoon welcome visitors to our physical Open House

NUS Biz alumni, staff, and students met prospective undergrads face-to-face for the first time since 2020 at our physical Open House on Saturday, 5 March.

The school and Biz mascot Tycoon welcomed over 850 visitors, with close to 200 registrations for the various admission talks and Q&A sessions.

Close to 60 of our student ambassadors were on hand to bring visitors on tours around NUS Biz, as well as answer questions on the different academic options available and what student life is really like.

It was also the first time that NUS Biz showcased the Real Estate degree programme after its move from the old School of Design and Environment.

And visitors were curious about Real Estate and its career prospects. Professor Sing Tien Foo (Head, Dept of Real Estate and Director, Institute of Real Estate and Urban Studies) was at the sessions to explain that the degree is much more than its name suggests. “The course equips students with fundamentals on economics, finance, valuation, law and institutional structure to create value in real estate and shape a city,” he explained.

Many prospective students were also curious about the differences between the various programmes, explained student ambassador and BBA undergraduate Vrinda.

“They had questions like ‘What is the difference between the 4-year accountancy program of NUS and the 3-year accountancy program of NTU?’ and ‘How is the Business Analytics specialisation different from the one offered by the school of computing?’” said Vrinda.

While the student ambassadors all did a great job sharing their knowledge and experience with the visitors, Vrinda felt that the experience was also about gaining a perspective.

“I have spent the last three semesters online, and after attending the open house, I realised that there’s a lot to learn and explore, and I want to make the best and most out of my remaining campus life,” said Vrinda.
