The NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Association celebrated their 25th anniversary on 30 September 2017. As part of this festive occasion, a newly established endowed NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Endowment Fund was announced.

Dubbed the NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Scholarship, it will help students to continue their studies, in the event of a family emergency and would be available for application in Academic Year 18/19. This scholarship is the first of its kind in NUS Business School, providing a full scholarship for tuition fees.
“The Chinese alumni all feel this is a meaningful way to help students, especially if their families are in financial need. Through an endowment fund, everyone can contribute and grow the fund while students will benefit in perpetuity,” says Mr Kwek Chok Ming, President of the NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Association and alumni of the Executive MBA (Chinese) intake 16. He added, “There is a misconception that donations need to be large amounts, but every bit counts. This is a good platform to spread awareness for alumni who wish to help, and encourage all to continuously give.”
A total of 32 alumni, including those from the various intakes from the Executive MBA (Chinese) rallied together to raise the funds of more than $450,000 to kick start the endowment fund. Currently, the NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni has an expendable NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Bursary. Since 2009 till now, it has benefited 50 students.
Alumni from various countries like Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan reunited with fellow classmates.
As part of the celebrations, a forum was held with Jimmy Koh, Head of Economic-Treasury Research (Global Markets and Investment Management) and the School’s Associate Professor Fu Qiang, Department of Strategy & Policy taking the stage to talk about the macroeconomic trends in 2017 with rising trade protectionism and the Belt and Road initiative.
Homecoming for Executive MBA (Chinese) intake 20
In conjunction, the Executive MBA (Chinese) alumni of intake 20 also organised an alumni homecoming. The class came together, contributing $25,000 to the $450,000 NUS Business School Mandarin Alumni Endowment Fund.
