Making a Difference

More than 30 NUS Biz alumni, students, staff and family members spent Saturday, 3 September, clearing litter from East Coast Park in a beach clean-up activity organised by BIZAlum. The community service initiative is part of NUS Cares, a university movement that encourages giving back to society.

Other NUS faculties, schools and offices also did their part for the environment on 3 September. Some teams cleaned up the beaches at Pasir Ris Park and Coney Island, while others held tree planting sessions at nature parks across Singapore.

Members of the NUS Biz community felt that the hours cleaning up East Coast Park were a meaningful act and an opportunity to connect. “A beach clean-up is a wonderful community-based activity in that everyone can participate with our friends, colleagues and family,” said Assistant Senior Manager Jin Jing, BIZAlum.

“People get to see all the natural beauty of the sea and the beaches. It is also a meaningful initiative for the society to make our coastline a cleaner and safer environment,” she said.
