Finance students visit Citi Innovation Lab Singapore

It was an informative session for some 15 BBA students led by Adjunct Senior Lecturer Ted Teo, who visited the Citi Innovation Lab Singapore, as part of their Transaction Banking (FIN3120B) module.

With Melvyn Low, ASEAN and Singapore Head, Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions, at the helm, Citi executives gave the students an in-depth understanding of transaction banking and treasury from an industry perspective.

“To keep the course up-to-date and help the students apply what they learned in class in the real world context, industry practitioners are invited to speak and share their experience and best practices during the course,” said Teo.

Anahita Shah, Vice President, Treasury Advisory, Citi Asia Pacific, talked about how Citi’s corporate treasury is utilizing analytics in a transformative manner for its customers, streamlining compliance and other processes.

Ian Lacy, Innovation Catalyst, Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions, presented Citi’s innovation model, which includes ventures, partnerships with external developers, and research labs like the Citi Innovation Lab in Singapore.

The visit is an experiential experience for the students to see the topics they studied, such as the roles and responsibilities of the treasury function, in a real-life setting, according to Lee En Ying, a fourth year BBA student with the group that visited Citi.

“The course covers a broad aspect of global transaction banking services and corporate treasury management. This course will benefit those students who are interested in careers in banking, finance, and Fintech,” said Teo.
