BBA team is best in Belgrade

NUS Business School came up tops at the Belgrade Business International Case Competition. Led by Mabelyn Tan, with Phyllis Ng, Freddie Teo and Ahamed Marzouq making up the team, they faced off 15 other schools in two rounds of Serbian cases involving a bank and a tobacco company.

The faculty advisor to the team was Associate Professor Ang Swee Hoon of the Department of Marketing.

“It has been an enriching learning experience for the team, understanding about the Serbian market and uncovering valuable consumer insights,” said Mabelyn.

The competition was an opportunity for the students to apply everything they have learned, including case trainings, at NUS Business School, according to Phyllis. “This memorable experience has provided invaluable insights about Belgrade and allowed us to have a taste of the warm Serbian hospitality!” she added.

The team is also grateful to the guidance given by Prof Ang and advice provided by the seniors from NUS Case Consulting Group, said Freddie. “It is an amazing opportunity to be able to experience the rich Serbian culture and interact with participating teams from all across the world,” he said.

For Marzouq, this is his first international case competition. He said, “It has been an amazing experience to have been a part of BBICC, meeting different people from universities around the world, embracing in the Serbian culture and cracking really tough cases! The past week has been full of memories that I would treasure for a long time to come. I am also very grateful to the NUS Case Consulting Group for giving this opportunity in Belgrade!”
