Organised by the University of Belgrade, the event had 20 international schools from North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia, taking part.

The format of the competition featured two 5-hour cases and a final 24-hour case.

For the case challenges, the team (Ang Jun Hean, Justin Tay, Guo Zhou Hong and Sharyn Poewanto) worked on series of technology-related topics – e-commerce, cryptocurrency, blockchain and IoT (Internet of Things).

IoT refers to a network of objects, such as vehicles and home appliances, that can connect and exchange data thanks to minicomputers embedded in each of them.

In the 24-hour case, the team worked on how Telecom Serbia can integrate IoT technology into its products and services.

The students impressed the judges with their understanding of the Serbian market by positioning IoT for the families living with grandparents. For instance, motion detectors can sense if the elderly has met with a fall at home and send out alerts to family members’ smartphones.

Associate Professor Ang Swee Hoon from the Department of Marketing was the faculty advisor for the team.
