The National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School’s annual flagship event, NUS Bizad Charity Run (BCR) 2020, kick-started the new year with more than 1,300 participants getting active for a good cause. The run was graced by President Halimah Yacob, who is also NUS Chancellor and an alumna of the University.
10 years of running, 10 years of giving
2020 marks a significant year for both NUS, as well as the NUS Business School Alumni Association (NUSBSA). BCR, which is in its 10th edition, was the launch event for NUS115, as the University celebrates its 115th anniversary this year. NUSBSA celebrates 20 years of uniting alumni and creating opportunities for both students and alumni.
Student Project Director Mr Darren Tan said, “As part of the preparation for the NUS Bizad Charity Run 2020, my team and I had the opportunity to volunteer at TOUCH Community Services – Elderly Care. Seeing the joy in the seniors made our work much more meaningful. It is an honour to work alongside my teammates to organise such an important event that allows undergraduates such as myself to contribute back to society.”
This year’s event raised a record sum of over S$400,000 for multiple beneficiaries, including the NUSBSA Bursary Fund, NUS Business Student Support Fund and TOUCH Community Services – Elderly Care. TOUCH will receive S$30,000 to support programmes and services for the less privileged elderly in Singapore.
